AIMRAR (2019-22)

AIMRAR (2019-22): An integrated microfluidic – single cell Raman technology for rapid diagnosis of pathogens and their antibiotic resistance

Our most recent project, is to address the issue of antibiotic resistance. The project has been funded by Innovate UK as one of a number of ‘UK-China partnerships against antimicrobial resistance’. Epigem is working with Glasgow and Oxford Universities in the UK, and a number of clinical partners in China, to develop a microfluidics-driven test that will incorporate advanced Raman spectroscopy to characterise antimicrobial resistance. Although the UK funded programme completed in 2022 we continue to work with our Chinese partners in order to advance the development of a prototype instrument.

In 2023 Epigem’s Dr Yuetao Li spent several months in China working with our partners their to validate the operation of the AIMRAR hardware and software within a clinical environment.
