Epigem participated in two parallel projects relating to diagnostic testing funded by the UK Technology Strategy Board. These were “MilkED: Development of a point of need diagnostic test for infectious disease in milk in dairies” and “MIMIC: Multifunctional Integrated Microsystem for rapid point-of-care TB IdentifiCation”. Both projects saw saw Epigem partner with Irish vetinary diagnostic company Enfer Labs and Glasgow University whilst the second also involved clinicians at Southampton, Edinburgh and London UCL universities. MilkED investigated a surface acoustic wave (SAW) mediated PCR approach whilst MIMC concentrated on a serological methodology.
